Technology

It was September third, 2013.

I arrived at work and my boss tells me that

He is letting me go because I have been replaced by a machine.

That was the most shocking day of my life.

I arrived back at my house with nothing to do.

With nothing to do I decide to watch TV, play on my playstation,

and check my facebook status for the past month. So for the past several months

I notice that something just doesn’t feel right with me.

I feel… DEPRESSED……… and I ran out of glee.

Some days I just sit there in my chair

staring into space with nothing to do thinking of how I arrived there.

Because of this problem that I have I decided

to go and see a doctor.

The doctor tells me that I have come

down with a case of depression

and LOW SELF ESTEEM.

With depression… and low self esteem what can this mean?

I have noticed that I haven’t been real social with

people since I lost my job. What has happened to me?

Technology has ruined my life! I asked myself

“Does technology really help us?”

The answer to this questions is NO; technology

is hurting us as Americans and we need to fix this

MONSTER that we have created.

Dear Editor and Chief:

My name is Joeseph Costa and I am a sophomore at Early College High School in Conway SC.

I am writing to address the impact of technology on American’s social lives, health, and jobs. Today’s technology has impacted Americans in a negative way. Americans today are falling into a trance of just working, eating, watching TV or playing video games, and sleeping. From this, American people have started being diagnosed with depression and low self esteem symptoms. It has been proven that corporations are eliminating more than two million jobs annually.

This is not helping the American people at all because this is causing people to loose their jobs. My view on the technology is that people should understand the negative outcomes of the new technology. In order to change Americans lives and health people need to know what the technology has done to us.

Thank you so much for your time. I appreciate your help hope to hear from you soon

Sincerely,

Joeseph Costa
